Your new company 

Located in Sydney’s upper north shore, Northside Montessori School caters for students from early childhood to year 6. The school follows an authentic Montessori educational approach centred on understanding and meeting the needs of the individual child. The school instils in children a love of learning, a sense of wonder and develops each individual child’s confidence and independent learning skills through teaching for mastery.

Your new role

The exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the position of Principal for Northside Montessori, overseeing an early childhood campus and primary school campus. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced primary leader who values working in a small school setting with a tight knit, engaged and caring community and is driven to deliver continuous improvement and growth. This role will commence at a date based on the successful candidates’ availability and circumstances.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role you will be a highly effective communicator and relationship builder. As school Principal you will empower your team to ensure effective collaboration and team building is implemented throughout the schools educational programs at all levels. Your excellent presentation and communication skills and your genuine passion for the values of the school will allow you to build strong relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders and associations, promoting the school and its values to a wide audience. You will be adept at engaging with, listening and working professionally and in partnership with all stakeholders.

Your authentic style of leadership will be underpinned by a strong knowledge of the Australian Independent School system and a progressive and dynamic approach to school leadership. As school principal you will have oversight over all operational an educational elements of the schools success, supported by a non-teaching Assistant Principal, a Director of Early Childhood and a Business Manager.

You will feel a strong connection to the principles and values of Montessori education. Previous Montessori experience and qualifications is not a pre-requisite but it is essential that you have a genuine interest and alignment to the Montessori methodology and values. If you are not already Montessori trained then this represents a fantastic opportunity to be supported in gaining the formal qualifications to allow you to lead with expertise in a Montessori context.

As an experienced educational leader you will be knowledgeable about policy and regulations covering both the early childhood sector and the primary schools sector. You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to plan and implement strategy to grow the school and lead with vision and vigour.
